Application eligibility* All conditions must be met |
1.Applicants must have completed at least 12 years of formal school education in their home country. Or, they must be recognized by AFLS to have qualifications that are at least equivalent to this. 2.Applicants must have a clear need/reason for studying in Japan. (The purpose must not be employment). 3.Applicants who have been refused a certificate of eligibility after applying to the Japanese Ministry of Justice’s Immigration Services Agency, or have been denied permission for an assessment after applying to an overseas Japanese embassy, must consult AFLS about the matter in advance, and receive permission to reapply from the school principal. 4.Applicants must have sufficient funds to cover the school fees and living expenses while at AFLS. 5.Applicants must have a guarantor who is residing in Japan, or a sponsor who can provide full financial support (parent, relative, business partner). |

Application process |
Applicants must send to AFLS all the application documents and the screening fee of 20,000 yen. Or, they must be sent to AFLS from an overseas office or introducer.Screening fees are not refundable under any circumstances. * Application documents for persons who have not paid their screening fee will not be processed. |
After making an appointment by telephone, the applicant and guarantor residing in Japan must bring with them the application documents and 20,000 yen screening fee. An interview will be conducted when they come to AFLS. Screening fees are not refundable under any circumstances. |
