Matters to consider when preparing documents
1 | Applicants submit different documents depending on whether they are applying from overseas or in Japan. |
2 | We may sometimes ask applicants to correct or add to the documents they have submitted, so please apply well in advance of the deadline. |
3 | If you make a writing mistake, do not use correction fluid. Draw a double line through the mistake, stamp your seal over the lines, and write the correction in the blank space. |
4 | Please attach a Japanese translation for anything not written in Japanese. |
5 | Always use A4 paper for translations and anything else with no designated format. |
6 | Please write dates of birth, enrollment/graduation dates, employment/resignation dates, etc. clearly, the same as they appears on the family register, certificates, etc. |
7 | Except for originals such as graduation certificates and Japanese Language Proficiency Test certificates, no application documents will be returned. Please make copies as required. |
8 | Even if you pass the review by AFLS, you will not be able to enroll if you are not issued a certificate of eligibility from the Ministry of Justice Immigration Bureau.Furthermore, after you are issued a certificate of eligibility, if you are not issued a study-abroad visa through the review by the Japanese embassy, etc., you will not be able to enroll at AFLS. |
9 | Enrollment application forms will be processed in the order they are received. Acceptance of applications will close when the maximum enrollment capacity is reached. After acceptance of applications closes, all documents for applications that were not accepted will be returned. |
About completing the enrollment application forms
1 | Please explain your reason for applying in the “Reason for Applying” section of the immigration history declaration / statement of purpose form. Write in your native language, explaining your reason concretely on the basis of your level of education / current job description / future plans. Attach a Japanese translation. Abstract motives / purposes such as international exchange are not acceptable. |
2 | If the financial sponsor is someone other than a relative, or if there is a guarantor in Japan, please explain concretely why (relationship / background / reason) they will accept the burden of the school fees and living expenses until the applicant graduates. Attach documents that prove the explanation (postal mail, email, etc.). Someone who is simply a friend or acquaintance will not be acceptable, because the explanation must give a rationally convincing account of the background regarding the relationship with the applicant. |
3 | The bank balance certificate must provide a balance statement in a currency that can be remitted to Japan (balance statement in the domestic currency). |
